EGA Spectro Alloys Expands into Aluminum Billet Production with Recycled Materials

EGA Spectro Alloys, majority-owned by Emirates Global Aluminium (EGA), has officially launched aluminum billet production at its newly completed facility in Rosemount, Minnesota. The company’s first recycled aluminum billets have already been delivered to Crown Extrusion, which will fabricate them into eco-friendly docks for Dock Rite. This milestone marks a key advancement in EGA’s U.S. operations and a major contribution to sustainable aluminum manufacturing in North America.

The facility spans 90,000 square feet and features state-of-the-art melting and casting technology, including a vertical casting pit capable of producing billets in five common diameters. According to EGA Spectro Alloys President Luke Palen, this range meets most regional extrusion needs. The plant also mirrors EGA’s advanced homogenizing processes used globally, ensuring billet quality that meets demanding industrial standards across multiple sectors.

Focus Keyphrase: Recycled Aluminum Billet Production Fuels Circular Economy

This new line of recycled aluminum billet production will supply up to 120 million pounds annually to North America’s growing extrusion market. The billets will serve a wide array of applications, from automotive parts to structural components in marine and aerospace industries. With nearly 50 new full-time jobs expected by 2026, the facility boosts local employment while advancing circular economy initiatives.

EGA Spectro Alloys also continues to produce 120,000 tons of die-cast and foundry alloys annually for over 125 clients across the U.S., Canada, and Mexico. The aluminum billet expansion is part of EGA’s broader sustainability strategy, branded under its RevivAL product line. This initiative reflects EGA’s commitment to giving aluminum a second life, while supporting customers’ ESG and carbon-reduction goals.

SuperMetalPrice Commentary:

The launch of recycled aluminum billet production by EGA Spectro Alloys marks a strategic pivot toward sustainability-driven growth in the North American metals sector. By leveraging advanced casting technologies and aligning with EGA’s global quality standards, the Minnesota facility positions itself as a competitive, eco-conscious supplier in the extrusion value chain. As end-users increasingly demand low-carbon materials, this development signals not just market responsiveness, but leadership in sustainable metal production.
