Nabertherm GmbH, a leading German manufacturer of industrial furnaces, has introduced the LH..DB furnace series, engineered specifically for thermal post-processing in metal Additive Manufacturing (AM). This launch strengthens Nabertherm’s commitment to providing integrated, flexible, and efficient metal AM furnace solutions for the rapidly growing Additive Manufacturing market.

Compact Design with Versatile Capabilities

The LH..DB furnace line is designed for debinding and sintering of ceramic parts, as well as post-processing of binder-based metal AM components. Available in two sizes—with 120-liter and 216-liter chamber volumes—the furnaces can accommodate all standard platform sizes of current binder jetting AM systems.

Each unit integrates the controller, gassing system, control elements, and switchgear directly into the housing, streamlining installation and operation. Once connected to a power source, the furnace is immediately ready for production, making it a plug-and-play solution for industrial users.

Flexible Atmosphere Options and Enhanced Safety

A standout feature of the LH..DB series is its hybrid processing capability. Users can perform heat treatments in air or under non-flammable process gases using the optional protective gas box. This flexibility is essential for debinding components that require inert conditions, such as metal AM parts, at temperatures up to 600°C, with further heat treatment under inert gas possible up to 1,100°C.

The system also includes a safety package that ensures reliable operation during inert gas processes. It monitors gas flow and supports effective purging of the protective gas box, preventing the creation of flammable atmospheres.

In air-based processes, preheated fresh air dilutes escaping binder gases, eliminating ignition risks. Additionally, the furnace chamber benefits from a preheated air purge, enhancing heat transfer and ensuring uniform debinding performance.

Supporting Metal Additive Manufacturing Growth

As metal AM continues to scale, so does the demand for precision thermal post-processing solutions. Nabertherm’s LH..DB line addresses this need by offering a compact, safety-focused, and adaptable platform suitable for metal and ceramic applications. Specifications and technical data for the new furnace models are now available on Nabertherm’s official website.
