Indonesian manufacturer Anugrah Cipta Mould Indonesia (ACMI) has inaugurated a new additive manufacturing centre dedicated to producing footwear moulds using advanced Farsoon 3D printing systems. This initiative marks a significant advancement in ACMI’s manufacturing capabilities.

Investing in Advanced 3D Printing Systems

The new facility houses multiple Farsoon systems, including the FS200M dual-laser and FS350M quad-laser models. Established in 1995, ACMI is recognized as one of Indonesia’s leading mould manufacturers, collaborating with top global footwear brands to produce outsoles, midsoles, and TPU soles. The adoption of metal powder bed fusion technology is set to enhance ACMI’s service capabilities, promising faster lead times, superior quality, innovative design opportunities, and reduced costs.

A Strategic Shift Towards In-House Production

ACMI has been integrating 3D printing technology into its operations since 2015, initially utilizing SLA 3D printing for casting. In 2021, the company became the first in Indonesia to implement metal powder bed fusion for shoe moulds with the acquisition of the FS200M. The recent addition of the FS350M machine now serves as the company’s primary solution for accelerating series production.

Customizable Solutions for Diverse Industries

Min Seo Kang, ACMI’s Lead Manager for Metal 3D Printing, highlighted the benefits of Farsoon’s open parameter system, which allows for real-time customization and improvements in processing. Leading shoe brands have expressed satisfaction with the quality of ACMI’s moulds compared to traditional methods, leading to full-size production orders for various mould types. Additionally, ACMI is extending its reach into other sectors, producing spare part models for automotive, marine, and automated robots, with ongoing development for these applications.

A Promising Partnership for Innovation

Vince Zhao, Farsoon’s Director of Business Development for the AMEA region, expressed enthusiasm about the partnership, stating that it represents a commitment to supporting customers in achieving success through additive manufacturing. With ACMI’s expertise in shoe mould production and the establishment of the new AM Centre, there is strong potential for expanding additive manufacturing into other key industries in Indonesia.
