Aluminium Bahrain (Alba), one of the world’s leading aluminium producers, has formed a strategic alliance with Japanese alloy maker Daiki Aluminium Industry to launch an aluminium dross processing venture in Bahrain. The collaboration is aimed at promoting sustainability by minimizing waste from Alba’s smelting activities.
The companies have signed a preliminary agreement to create a joint venture that will build a cutting-edge facility for processing aluminium dross, a byproduct of the smelting process at Alba’s operations. This new plant will focus on recovering aluminium metal from the dross, helping to reduce waste while advancing both Alba’s and Bahrain’s sustainability objectives.
Alba’s CEO, Ali Al Baqali, highlighted the importance of this partnership, stating, “This joint venture will set a benchmark for sustainable aluminium production, showcasing the impact that collaborative efforts can have in fostering positive environmental change.”
Although the announcement represents a significant milestone for both companies, details about the construction timeline and the facility’s commissioning have not yet been disclosed. Financial specifics of the project also remain unspecified.
This partnership between Alba and Daiki reflects a growing trend within the aluminium industry towards more sustainable practices and efficient resource management. As global aluminium demand continues to climb, initiatives like this are playing a crucial role in minimizing the environmental impact of production processes.
