Conflux Delivers High-Performance Heat Exchanger for Pagani Utopia

Conflux Technology has designed a custom heat exchanger for the Pagani Utopia, pushing the limits of additive manufacturing in automotive engineering. The high-end hypercar, powered by a twin-turbo V12 and a bespoke seven-speed transmission, demanded superior thermal management. Conflux’s solution achieved a 30% improvement in heat rejection, optimizing performance during high-load driving.

Pagani selected Conflux to meet these thermal demands in the transmission oil domain. In collaboration with transmission supplier Xtrac, Conflux’s cartridge-style heat exchanger offered both lightweight efficiency and advanced heat dissipation. As a result, the Utopia maintains peak responsiveness without compromising emission standards or mechanical durability.

The heat exchanger underwent extensive validation, including road and track testing, as well as thermal shock trials. These results prove its reliability under extreme conditions.

 

Additive Manufacturing Enables Thermal Innovation in Hypercars

The collaboration highlights additive manufacturing’s role in advancing next-gen automotive components. According to Michael Fuller, Conflux CEO, the technology delivers a fusion of precision and innovation that aligns with Pagani’s engineering excellence. In addition, the cartridge-style heat exchanger showcases how 3D printing enables performance breakthroughs not achievable by traditional methods.

Pagani’s Head of Technical, Francesco Perini, emphasized that every technical detail matters in delivering both romance and racing performance. The heat exchanger’s ability to support both casual drives and high-stress tracks reinforces its key role. Meanwhile, Xtrac’s Oliver Nixon praised Conflux for maintaining lightweight design without compromising heat control—a balance crucial for motorsport-derived systems.

Conflux is also showcasing its technology at TCT 3Sixty in the UK, reinforcing its commitment to expanding AM solutions across industries.
