IperionX and Aperam Advance Closed-Loop Titanium Supply Chain
IperionX, a US titanium technology company, and Aperam, a global specialty metals leader via its US-based ELG Utica Alloys, are expanding their collaboration to build a domestic closed-loop titanium supply chain. The partnership emphasizes sustainable sourcing, recycling, and advanced titanium processing.
Titanium Scrap Supply and Two-Phase Trial Program
Under a new agreement, ELG will supply 12 metric tonnes of titanium scrap to IperionX. The scrap originates from consumer electronics and technology hardware sectors. IperionX will evaluate the material and convert 1 tonne into titanium powder during Phase 1 of the program. In Phase 2, the powder will be used to produce semi-finished components, such as near-net shapes. The remaining 11 tonnes will be securely stored pending further agreement.
Payment and Agreement Conditions
IperionX will invoice $150,000 to ELG upon completion of each trial phase. The current agreement is valid through June 30, 2026, unless terminated earlier by either party.
Building on a 2023 Titanium Scrap Trial
This agreement builds on a July 2023 pilot program, where ELG supplied 10 tonnes of titanium scrap to IperionX for $60,000. Discussions since then have focused on long-term scrap supply, including monthly shipments of 12 tonnes and toll processing services managed by ELG.
