Material Recovery Equipment Demonstration Week in North Carolina
The Waste Alliance Group (WAG) will host the Material Recovery Equipment Demonstration Week from November 12-14 in Statesville, North Carolina. This event aims to highlight innovative landfill reclamation techniques and material recovery solutions. Additionally, it will feature both educational sessions and live equipment demonstrations, offering a comprehensive look at the latest advancements in waste management and recycling.
Educational Sessions and Expert Presentations
The event will kick off with morning seminars at the Statesville Civic Center, where industry leaders will share key insights on landfill mining and waste management. For example, Subodh Das, Ph.D., from Phinix LLC, will discuss advanced landfill mining techniques. Moreover, Ed Mussler, a former official at the North Carolina Department of Environmental Quality (NCDEQ), will present strategies for effective waste management. Furthermore, Raymond Hoffman will give a presentation on shingle recycling and techniques for improving landfill density operations.
Live Equipment Demonstrations
In the afternoon, the event will shift to Iredell Landfill, where live demonstrations of cutting-edge recycling equipment will take place. Notably, leading companies in landfill reclamation, such as Lindner, E-Factor 3, ELV Select Equipment, and 3r Machinery, will showcase their machinery. These companies will demonstrate how their machines recover valuable materials like iron, steel, aluminum, copper, plastic, and wood from landfill sites. As a result, attendees will gain hands-on experience with state-of-the-art equipment designed to boost recycling efficiency. This hands-on exposure will provide participants with practical knowledge and insights they can apply to their own operations.
Measuring Recovery and Environmental Impact
A significant part of the demonstrations will focus on measuring material recovery efficiency. Attendees will observe the weighing of recovered materials, allowing them to see the proportion of materials recovered versus the waste volume. This demonstration will showcase how effective recycling practices help save landfill airspace, contributing to environmental sustainability.
Event Registration and Costs
Attendees can register for the event for $50, which grants access to all educational sessions and live demonstrations. Participants can earn seven continuing education credits by attending the event. They can complete registration through the WAG website.
