
Introduction to Norway’s Leading Sorting Plant
In November 2024, Infinitum AS, the foundation responsible for Norway’s deposit-return scheme, launched its new state-of-the-art sorting plant in Skurve. One of the most impressive technologies in this facility is the COMPACT+™ sorter. It uses infrared spectroscopy to recover PET bottles. Moreover, this optical sorter also utilizes Vision spectroscopy to separate materials by color with over 99% purity. This is especially true for clear PET fractions. By using these technologies, the plant ensures that around 70% of PET bottles and 20% of aluminum cans are diverted for recycling. As a result, they are provided with a second life.
