SWISSto12, an advanced radiofrequency (RF) product manufacturer and leader in telecommunications satellite production, has made a significant investment in additive manufacturing (AM) by purchasing four MetalFab G2 3D printers from Additive Industries. This move strengthens SWISSto12’s position in the aerospace sector, where it is known for deploying additive manufacturing technologies to create highly optimized components with reduced mass and part count, enhancing the performance of RF products used in space applications.
SWISSto12’s Proven Track Record in Aerospace Additive Manufacturing
SWISSto12 is no newcomer to the world of additive manufacturing. A spin-out of the Swiss Federal Institute of Technology (EPFL) in Lausanne, the company has built a strong reputation for its innovative RF solutions. As a result, these solutions have been widely adopted in aerospace, particularly in satellite communication systems, where they have proven essential. Notably, SWISSto12 has successfully deployed over 1,000 functional additive-manufactured RF components in space with zero failures, underscoring the reliability and durability of their technology in high-stakes environments.

MetalFab G2: Precision and Automation for Aerospace Applications
SWISSto12 selected MetalFab G2 systems equipped with four full-field lasers for precise and efficient metal 3D printing. These printers have a 420mm x 420mm build plate and are designed for high throughput. They produce complex parts with excellent accuracy. Advanced automation features like laser calibration, powder handling, and automated build setup make these systems ideal for aerospace production. Efficiency and precision are critical in this industry. Furthermore, three of the printers will feature dual-core versions, which, in turn, will help SWISSto12 scale production efficiently. As a result, this will enable the company to maintain high quality while meeting increasing demand.
Scaling Production for Aerospace Growth
SWISSto12’s acquisition of MetalFab G2 systems is crucial for scaling production. This move aims to meet the growing demand in aerospace applications. Emile de Rijk, CEO of SWISSto12, said this investment will help the company maintain high-quality RF products. Additionally, this investment will enable them to meet the increasing production volumes required by aerospace clients.
Mark Massey, CEO of Additive Industries, expressed satisfaction with the partnership. He noted that the MetalFab G2’s advanced automation and precision meet the strict demands of SWISSto12’s aerospace operations.
