TerraCycle, based in Trenton, New Jersey, has announced its acquisition of North Coast Services, a New Hampshire company specializing in the collection and recycling of universal waste, including electronics, batteries, and hazardous materials. This strategic move aims to enhance TerraCycle’s operations and service offerings in the recycling sector.
Enhancing Universal Waste Management
The acquisition of North Coast Services marks a significant step in TerraCycle’s commitment to reducing waste. Founder and CEO Tom Szaky highlighted the importance of this integration, stating, “With the addition of North Coast Services, we’ve gained a business known for excellent and versatile customer service, with recycling facilities that will complement and enhance our U.S. operations.” This acquisition follows TerraCycle’s previous expansions into universal waste management, including the acquisition of Air Cycle Corp. in 2016 and Complete Recycling Solutions in 2023.
Strengthening Commercial Recycling Solutions
TerraCycle’s Commercial Recycling division specializes in providing industrial recycling solutions for hard-to-recycle materials. This division aids companies in adhering to regulatory requirements and achieving sustainability objectives by effectively managing complex waste streams. North Coast Services, established in 2011, focuses on managing Resource Conservation and Recovery Act (RCRA) hazardous waste, further bolstering TerraCycle’s expertise in this area.
Shared Vision for Recycling Innovation
Co-founders of North Coast Services, Tom Fatcheric and Billy Andrews, expressed enthusiasm for the merger, noting, “TerraCycle is the perfect partner and shares our mission to provide state-of-the-art solutions for the recycling of universal waste.” The collaboration is expected to enhance service offerings and expand the collective customer base, thereby providing more comprehensive services to businesses in need of efficient waste management solutions.
This acquisition signifies a continued commitment by TerraCycle to innovate in the recycling industry and promote sustainable practices across various sectors.
