Belgium, Lithuania, Denmark, Germany, and Romania also contributed. Specifically, they represent traditional scrap-exporting nations. They supported Turkey’s steel production.

Top Exporters: EMR Ltd. and Sims Ltd. Lead

EMR Ltd. and Sims Ltd. led scrap exports to Turkey. EMR shipped 14.6% of materials. Sims Ltd. contributed 12.1%. However, Sims Ltd. sold its UK assets to Unimetals Ltd. This could impact future volumes. Radius Recycling, Mazza Iron & Steel, Smith Industries, and American Iron & Metal also contributed. A significant portion came from “Common User” terminals. This highlights scrap logistics complexity.

Satellite Tracking Enhances Accuracy

Navigate Commodities uses satellite technology. It tracks scrap movement. This includes barges and ocean vessels. This provides accurate data on shipments. However, identifying suppliers at shared terminals is challenging. Atilla Widnell shared insights on scrap flow. The technology offers real-time data. It improves market transparency.
