ADNOC Gas and EWEC Partner to Support UAE’s Energy Transformation with Flexible Gas Supply

ADNOC Gas and EWEC, UAE’s Energy Transformation

ADNOC Gas and Emirates Water and Electricity Company (EWEC) have entered into a long-term strategic partnership to strengthen the UAE’s energy transition. This partnership, announced during the Abu Dhabi Sustainability Week 2025, includes a $10 billion agreement to ensure a stable and flexible supply of natural gas, pivotal for achieving the nation’s sustainability goals.

A Landmark Agreement for Sustainable Energy

The 10-year natural gas sales and purchase agreement between ADNOC Gas Facilities LLC and EWEC will play a crucial role in powering the UAE’s energy transformation. The deal aligns with the UAE’s ambitions to reach net-zero emissions by 2050, supporting both energy security and the integration of renewable energy sources.

ADNOC Gas, a leader in gas processing, will supply natural gas to key power plants across the UAE, ensuring energy stability while advancing the country’s economic diversification and sustainability efforts. According to ADNOC Gas CEO, Fatema Al Nuaimi, the partnership will help leverage Abu Dhabi’s gas reserves to fuel industries, ensuring self-sufficiency and contributing to sustainable growth.

Gas as a Bridge to Clean Energy and Net-Zero Goals

EWEC CEO Othman Al Ali emphasized that natural gas will remain essential as a transitional energy source, bridging the gap between traditional and renewable energy systems. As the UAE accelerates its integration of solar power and other clean energy technologies, flexible natural gas supply will complement these sources, particularly during peak demand periods.

This collaboration also aligns with the UAE’s Net Zero by 2050 Strategic Initiative, ensuring the reliable and flexible supply of energy while fostering the development of clean energy solutions. By supporting EWEC’s efforts to decarbonize water and electricity supply, ADNOC Gas is contributing to a greener and more sustainable energy future for the UAE.
