– Alnico alloy magnets are a family of Fe alloys, mainly composed of Al, Ni, and Co
– Typically limited to a maximum service temperature of about 538℃, ideal for corrosive and high temperature applications
: Excellent magnetism, corrosion resistance, heat resistance, durability

* Alnico
– A family of Fe alloys, mainly composed of Al, Ni, and Co, hence the abbreviation Alnico
→ 8~12% Al, 15~26% Ni, 5~24% Co, 6% Cu, 1% Ti and the rest is iron
– It has ferromagnetic properties and has the highest Curie ionization of all magnetic materials
– Typically limited to a maximum service temperature of about 538°C and are ideal for corrosive and high heat applications
– Alnico alloys are classified by chemical composition and magnetic properties (the classification number itself is not directly related to the properties of the magnet
→ By changing the combination of metals, the magnetic properties of the magnet can be tailored to suit the needs of the application.
→ Alnico grades vary in Co content
→ Alnico ranges from 0 (Alnico 3) to 40% (Alnico 8)
→ Alnico 2 to 4 : magnetic properties are isotropic
→ Alnico 5, 6, 8, 9 : Produce high magnetic output in the specified direction
(orientation is achieved during heat treatment)
→ Alnico 5 : The most widely used grade, it transfers energy to magnetic circuits more economically than other Alnico grades
→ Alnico 8 : Excellent coercivity and energy per unit volume among Alnico grades
→ Alnico 9 : A premium grade between Alnico 5 and 8 that produces superior magnetic output in the desired magnetization direction in the molten state
→ Magnetic force : Alnico 3 < Alnico 2 < Alnico 5
– Alnico alloys can be cast or sintered
