Hithium Tech USA, a manufacturer of battery energy storage systems (BESS), has announced plans to invest $100 million in a new manufacturing facility dedicated to battery module and system assembly. This plant, located in Mesquite, Texas, will be the company’s first in North America.
According to Hithium’s announcement on July 12, the proposed facility will have an annual production capacity of 10GWh and will cover an area of 483,874 square feet. This expansion significantly enhances the company’s presence in the US, adding to its existing offices in Dallas, Texas, and Fremont, California.
Hithium Tech USA is the American subsidiary of China’s Xiamen Hithium Energy Storage Technology. The company specializes in the production of cylindrical and prismatic cells for lithium-iron-phosphate (LFP) batteries, along with battery modules and storage products.
In a related development, Hithium, in collaboration with solar developer Solarpro, completed a BESS installation project in Bulgaria on July 9. The project, which includes 16 of Hithium’s energy storage containers, boasts a capacity of 55MWh and is situated near a 33MW solar power plant operated by Renalfa, Solarpro’s parent company.
