BP has officially launched production at the second phase of the Raven field, part of the West Nile Delta (WND) project located offshore Egypt. This phase connects additional Raven infill wells to the existing onshore infrastructure, significantly increasing Raven field production capacity.

BP holds an 82.75% stake in the project, with Harbour Energy owning 17.25%. The second phase’s Raven field production is expected to contribute 220 billion cubic feet of gas and 7 million barrels of condensate. The project’s completion ahead of schedule allows production to begin earlier than initially planned.

Strengthening Egypt’s Domestic Gas Supply and Boosting Production Efficiency

BP’s ongoing efforts in Egypt reflect its commitment to boosting domestic energy production. Nader Zaki, BP’s regional president for the Middle East and North Africa, stated that continuous drilling since January 2024 has been essential to offsetting natural declines and increasing output, particularly through Raven field production. “Our focus has been to maximize production while meeting Egypt’s growing demand for gas,” said Zaki. BP credits its success to strong partnerships with the Ministry of Petroleum, EGPC, and EGAS.

The Raven development aligns with BP’s strategy to improve production efficiency from existing assets through significant Raven field production. The Raven field, located 65 km offshore at depths of 550-700 meters, represents the final phase of the West Nile Delta project. BP began production in early 2021, following earlier phases at the Taurus/Libra and Giza/Fayoum fields, developed in 2017 and 2019, respectively.
