AMC Targets Integrated Critical Minerals Supply Chain

Brazil’s newly-founded AMC aims to build a fully integrated critical minerals supply chain. The association addresses financial and operational bottlenecks. Board president Marisa Cesar stressed that federal incentives, tax exemptions, and strategic policies are crucial for Brazil to compete in lithium, rare earths, and other key minerals. Brazil also faces high costs due to imported chemicals needed for lithium processing, which limits domestic downstream operations.

AMC will help junior miners access funding and credit lines, overcoming collateral barriers. Cesar explained that without secure financing from Brazil’s development bank, Bndes, the country cannot achieve a full supply chain. The association supports Brazil’s policy to industrialize mineral production rather than export raw ore. This strategy strengthens domestic value capture.

Midstream and Downstream Expansion for Competitiveness

AMC plans to attract midstream and downstream plants to Brazil to increase local mineral processing. The move reduces import dependence and improves production economics for battery materials and rare metals. By supporting young producers and enabling full control of the production chain, AMC aims to make Brazil a global leader in critical minerals. International investors and miners are watching closely, as success could shift regional and global supply dynamics.

SuperMetalPrice Commentary:

AMC’s initiative is a strategic step for Brazil to capture more value in critical minerals. With federal incentives and financing mechanisms, Brazil could rival top producers in lithium, rare earths, and other strategic minerals. Investors, manufacturers, and global markets should monitor AMC closely, as it could reshape South America’s role in the global minerals supply chain.
