CNOOC, Huizhou 26-6 Oilfield Development Project

CNOOC Begins Production at Strategic South China Sea Oilfield
CNOOC Limited has officially commenced production at its Huizhou 26-6 Oilfield Development Project, marking a key milestone in the company’s offshore energy initiatives. Situated in the Pearl River Mouth Basin, this new project is expected to significantly contribute to China’s energy production. The development features advanced offshore technologies, including China’s first intelligent drilling production platform, and the modified “NAN HAI FEN JIN” Floating Production Storage and Offloading (FPSO) unit, both aimed at ensuring efficient resource extraction.

Innovative Approach to Deep-Buried Hill Reservoir Development
The Huizhou 26-6 Oilfield is CNOOC’s first deep-buried hill reservoir project in the South China Sea, showcasing the company’s commitment to leveraging cutting-edge offshore technologies. The project will feature 19 development wells, consisting of 2 oil production wells and 17 gas production wells. The field is expected to peak at a production rate of approximately 20,600 barrels of oil equivalent per day by 2027, with its primary products being light crude and natural gas.

Economic and Technological Impact
CNOOC’s 100% ownership of the project highlights the company’s direct role in the development of offshore oil and gas resources in the region. This project is strategically located to support the economic and social development of the Guangdong–Hong Kong–Macao Greater Bay Area. With the introduction of advanced offshore drilling technologies, the project is expected to enhance the efficiency of resource extraction and support China’s long-term energy security goals.
