EACON Mining Partners with BAOWU for Iron Ore Project
EACON Mining has secured its first iron ore project in collaboration with Xichang Mining, a subsidiary of BAOWU, aiming to automate operations at the Taihe Iron Mine. This partnership signifies EACON’s strategic shift from coal, aggregate, and gold mining into the iron ore sector, highlighting its commitment to sustainable and autonomous mining solutions. The project will automate six SANY electric mining trucks, each with a payload capacity of 70 tons, marking the initial phase of the mine’s automation with plans for a full site rollout.
Advanced Autonomous Haulage Solutions
For this project, EACON will implement its OEM-agnostic autonomous haulage solution (AHS), ORCASTRA, across the fleet of SANY electric trucks. Each truck will be equipped with drive-by-wire systems tailored to EACON’s specifications. Alongside ORCASTRA Pilot, the onboard AHS system, EACON will also deploy its complete suite of AHS capabilities, including ORCASTRA Conductor for fleet management and ORCASTRA Crew for crewed equipment integration. ORCASTRA Conductor will optimize operational efficiency by managing the charging cycles of the electric trucks.
Addressing Unique Mining Challenges and Future Innovation
The Taihe Iron Ore Mine presents unique challenges, particularly in its crusher zones and loading areas, where autonomous trucks must share space with crewed vehicles, leading to complex traffic flows. By providing flexible automation solutions with a low entry barrier, EACON offers a strong value proposition for miners focused on enhancing safety, efficiency, and cost-effectiveness. As the global mining industry embraces automation, EACON is poised to lead the next wave of innovation in mining technology.
