Fagor Ederlan Expands with Regen Aluminum Acquisition

Spanish automotive component producer Fagor Ederlan acquired 51% of US-based Regen Aluminum, expanding its reach into secondary aluminum production. The acquisition aims to strengthen Fagor’s sustainability capabilities and improve customer service in North America, according to general manager Jon Zuazo.

Regen Aluminum specializes in recycled aluminum ingot production, supplying the automotive, aerospace, and electrical sectors. With a capacity of 5mn ingots annually, the company provides low-carbon materials crucial for industries transitioning to greener supply chains. The facility will now operate under the new name Fagor Regen Aluminum.

Secondary Aluminum and Sustainability Goals

The secondary aluminum process reduces emissions by more than 90% compared with primary aluminum. As a result, Fagor Ederlan’s acquisition enhances its ability to deliver sustainable solutions across multiple regions. The company already operates production facilities in Europe, China, and the Americas, making this acquisition a natural extension of its global strategy.

Although financial terms were not disclosed, the move highlights the growing role of secondary aluminum in meeting decarbonization targets. The acquisition positions Fagor Ederlan to better compete in the automotive and industrial supply chains of North America.
