Farsoon has unveiled its Beam Shaping Technology at TCT Asia, making a major leap in metal additive manufacturing. The new technology was demonstrated live on four Farsoon printers, focusing on improving performance, detail, efficiency, and versatility in 3D printing.

 

Boosting 3D Printing Performance

Beam Shaping Technology allows laser spots to transform into various shapes, such as ring-shaped or point-ring-shaped, or fully customizable configurations. This flexibility enables the technology to meet specific application needs. When combined with high-power lasers and optimized scanning strategies, it significantly enhances printing quality and efficiency, achieving part densities greater than 99.95%.

 

Key Benefits of Beam Shaping Technology

The technology offers multiple advantages in metal 3D printing. It boosts build volume rates by over 2.5 times and increases melt pool width by 50-100%. It also minimizes melt pool spatter compared to Gaussian laser spots, reducing powder contamination and porosity. Additionally, Beam Shaping enables the creation of intricate features, like thin-wall structures, while improving process stability and part consistency.

Farsoon’s Beam Shaping Technology is compatible with several materials, including stainless steel, aluminium alloys, titanium alloys, and copper alloys. This broad material compatibility adds versatility to its manufacturing capabilities.

 

Farsoon’s Future Plans with Beam Shaping Technology

Farsoon plans to integrate Beam Shaping Technology into its larger platforms, including the FS621M, FS811M, and meter-scale systems. The company also revealed the FS1521M-U, a 32-laser metal 3D printing system at TCT Asia, expanding the possibilities for large-scale metal 3D printing.
