Fe-Ti

1. Introduce

– Alloy of iron (about 10-20%) and titanium (about 45-75%)

– Manufactured by mixing titanium sponge and titanium scrap with iron and then melting it

– Essential intermediate applied to inhibit the formation of fine carbon and chromium carbides

– Used as a deoxidizer, denitrifier, and alloy component additive in the steelmaking process
→ Titanium is highly reactive with sulfur, carbon, oxygen, and nitrogen, forming insoluble compounds that are then sequestered in slag to be deoxidized and denitrified

2. Property

– Excellent strength, hardness, corrosion resistance, wear resistance
