Glenfarne and Worley Begin Final Engineering for Alaska LNG Pipeline

Glenfarne Alaska LNG, LLC, a subsidiary of Glenfarne Group, has partnered with Worley to undertake the final engineering work for the Alaska LNG Pipeline. This collaboration aims to prepare a detailed cost estimate. The estimate will pave the way for the Final Investment Decision (FID) on the pipeline. The work will supplement the existing engineering package. It will also update the cost estimates to ensure that the project remains on track for completion.

Glenfarne has also selected Worley as the preferred engineering firm for the Cook Inlet Gateway LNG import terminal. Additionally, Worley will serve as its project delivery advisor for the broader Alaska LNG initiative. This partnership is crucial for advancing Alaska LNG. It ensures the project meets both energy demands and national security requirements. Glenfarne’s CEO, Brendan Duval, emphasized the importance of the pipeline. He noted that declining gas production from Cook Inlet poses risks to Alaska’s energy security and the U.S.’s military readiness.

 

Strategic Partner Selection Process for Alaska LNG Pipeline

As part of the project’s progress, Glenfarne has launched a strategic partner selection process to identify global companies with complementary expertise. This initiative aims to bolster the execution of the Alaska LNG project. The company is particularly excited about expanding its relationship with Worley. They have previously collaborated on the Texas LNG project. Glenfarne believes Worley’s long history of success in Alaska makes them an ideal partner for delivering this vital project.

The Alaska LNG Pipeline is a critical infrastructure project designed to transport natural gas to meet both domestic needs and supply the state’s LNG export facility. The pipeline will run 807 miles and is planned to be constructed in two phases. Phase One will deliver natural gas to the Anchorage region. Phase Two will extend under Cook Inlet to the LNG export facility in Nikiski. Glenfarne anticipates a Final Investment Decision (FID) for the pipeline in 2025.
