Premium Pipes with Advanced Connection Technology

Ukrainian industrial company Interpipe has made a landmark achievement in the oil and gas sector. The company has successfully manufactured pipes specifically designed for offshore gas production in the Black Sea. These pipes have been supplied to the South Akçakoca Sub-Basin (SASB) gas field in Turkey. This marks the first time Interpipe has ventured into the offshore pipe manufacturing market.

The pipes, which will be used for pump and compressor systems, will be laid directly underwater in shallow waters by a Turkish client. The project will support the development of offshore gas reserves, which are crucial for Turkey’s energy security and economic development.

Premium Pipes with Advanced Connection Technology

For this project, Interpipe developed tubing with the premium UPJ-M connection. This proprietary connection ensures a high level of gas tightness, which is critical for subsea production. The premium connection technology is uniquely suited for challenging conditions of offshore gas extraction. These include pressure, temperature, and corrosion resistance as key factors.

Artem Artemov, Interpipe’s Director of Sales for the Middle East, Asia, and Africa, emphasized the importance of gas-tight connections for offshore facilities. “Turkey is actively developing its offshore gas fields, especially in shallow water, where increased gas tightness is required,” he said. The use of these pipes with premium connections ensures operational efficiency and safety in such demanding environments.

A New Milestone for Interpipe

The installation of the pipes at the South Akçakoca Sub-Basin has been successfully completed. The products are now operating efficiently, marking a major milestone for Interpipe. Consequently, this achievement opens the door for the company to participate in more offshore gas production projects, both in the Black Sea and globally.

Interpipe has also been involved in supplying 127 mm diameter casing pipes to Italy. These pipes are set to be used in the salt industry in Tuscany, Italy, manufactured to meet the stringent international API 5CT standard, which guarantees their reliability and corrosion resistance.

SuperMetalPrice Commentary:

Interpipe’s successful entry into offshore gas production represents a significant step for the company in expanding its market reach. As energy security becomes increasingly important for countries worldwide, the demand for high-quality, reliable offshore pipes will continue to rise. This achievement also highlights the growing importance of technological advancements in pipe manufacturing, especially as the energy industry pushes further into complex, offshore environments. Interpipe’s experience and innovative solutions make them well-positioned to meet these growing demands in the energy sector.
