New Mine Cage Installation at Yubileinaya Mine

The Yubileinaya mine at the Sukha Balka ore deposit has upgraded its underground transport with a new mine cage. Specialists from the Dnipro Metallurgical Plant (DMZ) manufactured the cage, designed to carry 126 miners across three floors and weighing 15 tons. The installation took place between August 4 and August 31, involving careful preparation and extensive repair work to ensure durability in harsh underground environments.

The installation process required 149 working hours, with miners working continuously without days off. According to Maxim Kopeyka, chief mechanic of the Yubileinaya mine, the team installed the cage base at the zero mark of the mine shaft before sequentially assembling the second and third floors. After completing the frame, the team attached other necessary equipment, followed by electrical connections and quality checks by energy specialists.

DMZ’s Role and Production Highlights

DMZ has a strong presence in supporting the Yubileinaya mine’s equipment needs. Last year, DMZ’s specialized repair shop produced lifting equipment for the mine. The latest cage installation is part of their ongoing commitment to improving underground mining operations.

In August 2025, DMZ’s rolling shop No. 2 (PS-2) completed a steel rolling campaign ahead of schedule. The shop produced 7.9 thousand tons of steel products, including channels and specialized mine supports. Notably, the campaign delivered 2.2 thousand tons of SVP-27 and 200 tons of SVP-22 mine supports, vital for maintaining underground stability.

SuperMetalPrice Commentary:

The installation of the new mine cage at Yubileinaya mine highlights DMZ’s integral role in advancing mining safety and efficiency. The project demonstrates how specialized metallurgical equipment supports critical infrastructure in challenging environments. As mining operations face increasing safety demands, investments in durable and high-capacity equipment like this cage will become essential. Additionally, DMZ’s robust steel production pipeline strengthens supply chains for mining infrastructure, positioning the company as a key player in the metals sector.
