Solarcycle, based in Mesa, Arizona, has signed a recycling services agreement with RWE Clean Energy. This new partnership aims to enhance solar panel recycling and support a stronger circular economy within the U.S. renewable energy sector.
Efficient, Tested, and Transparent Recycling Process
RWE selected Solarcycle after a detailed evaluation focused on quality and environmental responsibility. As part of the deal, panels from RWE’s West of the Pecos project in Texas were sent to Solarcycle’s Odessa, Texas facility. There, independent third-party tests confirmed the recycling process met strict industry standards.
Jesse Simons, Solarcycle’s CEO and Co-founder, praised RWE’s commitment. “RWE understands the value of high-standard solar recycling. They asked the right questions and backed it with solid testing,” Simons said. He also urged the industry to adopt similar transparency and standards.
Notably, Solarcycle uses proprietary technology to recover up to 95% of a panel’s materials. These include aluminum, silver, copper, silicon, and glass—all critical metals for energy and manufacturing sectors. With facilities in Arizona, Texas, and Georgia, Solarcycle can support RWE’s national operations.
Growing Impact and Future Goals
In 2024, RWE and Solarcycle worked together on projects at Alamo 7, West of the Pecos, and Big Star sites. This successful collaboration will continue to expand in 2025. Solarcycle expects to recycle 1 million panels by the end of the year, doubling its 2023 numbers.
More than 90 energy companies now partner with Solarcycle. These partnerships demonstrate growing industry demand for responsible recycling and valuable metal recovery. RWE’s participation confirms its leadership in environmental stewardship and sustainable project development.
At SuperMetalPrice, we recognize how advanced metal recovery is shaping the future of clean energy. This partnership between Solarcycle and RWE shows what’s possible when companies combine innovation with environmental responsibility.
