Talon Metals Discovers High-Grade Nickel-Copper Sulphide at Tamarack Project

Talon Metals has announced a significant nickel-copper sulphide discovery at its Tamarack Nickel-Copper-Cobalt Project in Minnesota, US. The discovery occurred during drilling and reveals a sulphide intercept of over 8.25 meters. This suggests a promising future for the project’s mineralization potential.

Sulphide Discovery and High-Grade Potential

The sulphide was discovered at a depth of 707.75 meters, with a 95% sulphide content. This high-grade nickel deposit is located roughly 150 meters below and 50 meters south of previously identified mineralization within the Tamarack resource zone. Talon Metals believes this discovery could indicate a larger zone of massive sulphides, especially given the minimal drilling nearby.

A borehole electromagnetic (EM) survey played a key role in the discovery. The survey detected a strong off-hole conductor, prompting Talon Metals to expand drilling efforts. They plan to target this anomaly to explore further.

Talon Metals’ Exploration Strategy

Brian Goldner, COO and Chief Exploration Officer at Talon Metals, commended the exploration team for using borehole EM effectively to guide drilling. The discovery lies outside the Tamarack resource zone, extending the known mineralization area. Talon Metals is refining its mineralization model, which suggests nickel mineralization has drained through an intrusive system and pooled at the bottom of the MSU near the 14TK0171 intercept.

A Step Toward Sustainable EV Manufacturing

The Tamarack Project is key to supplying nickel for the electric vehicle (EV) supply chain. It aims to provide a domestic source of nickel needed for EV battery production. Operated in a joint venture with Rio Tinto, the project spans 31,000 acres across the Tamarack North and South Projects.

Talon Metals holds a 51% stake in the project and plans to increase its ownership to 60% by completing a feasibility study and meeting financial obligations by March 2026. The company leads the exploration strategy. Once ownership reaches 60%, Rio Tinto must either contribute financially or dilute its interest. Talon Metals also controls off-take agreements related to product sales.
