Airports in Moscow and Kaluga Suspend Operations
On Thursday, Russia’s airports in Moscow and the nearby city of Kaluga temporarily halted all operations, with four major airports affected. The closures included Sheremetyevo, Domodedovo, Vnukovo, and Zhukovsky airports in Moscow, as well as Kaluga Airport. The suspension lasted for several hours before the restrictions were lifted.
Safety Concerns Prompt Temporary Suspension
The Federal Air Transport Agency, Rosaviatsia, confirmed the temporary suspension, citing safety concerns for civil aviation. While no specific reasons were given, the agency indicated that the measure was taken to ensure the safety of flights. Additionally, Kazan International Airport also temporarily suspended its operations during the same period.
Return to Normal Operations
After a brief period of closure, the restrictions were lifted, and airports resumed regular operations. No significant details regarding the cause of the suspension have been provided, but Rosaviatsia emphasized that flight safety remained the top priority.
