Wesdome’s Kiena Drill Tops 2025 Gold Assays

Wesdome Gold Mines (TSX: WDO) has secured the highest-ranking gold drill result worldwide for 2025. Its Kiena Deep zone in Val-d’Or, Quebec, delivered a spectacular intercept of 2.9 meters grading 2,349.88 grams per tonne gold. This exceptional result earned the top spot on The Northern Miner’s list of the best gold assays for the first half of the year. By midyear, Wesdome completed 21,000 meters of underground drilling at Kiena, a key factor driving exploration success.

CEO Anthea Bath credits the expansion of underground drill platforms for improved access and angles, enabling the discovery of previously unreachable targets. Wesdome aims to produce 90,000 to 100,000 ounces of gold at Kiena in 2025, nearly half of its total target production. The company remains confident in expanding its resources based on positive drilling results.

Australia’s Strong Showing and Other Top Global Drillers

Australia dominated the gold assay rankings with six holes in the top ten and nine in the top twenty. This showcases its world-class gold districts. New Murchison Gold’s Garden Gully project in Western Australia secured the second-best assay. It intersected a narrow but extremely high-grade 0.28 meters of 17,563.69 grams per tonne gold. This result highlights the rich potential of the Murchison gold district.

Meanwhile, Genesis Minerals’ Gwalia mine delivered the third-best drill result with 0.4 meters grading 10,800 grams per tonne. Gwalia stands as Australia’s deepest underground mine and offers significant opportunities to grow reserves. Canadian companies Alamos Gold and OceanaGold also posted strong drilling results, underscoring North America’s ongoing contribution to high-grade gold discoveries.

SuperMetalPrice Commentary:

Wesdome’s top-ranking drill intercept signals a potential boost in Quebec’s gold production profile, which can attract further investment and exploration in the region. The high-grade assays from Australia and Canada confirm these countries’ pivotal roles in the global gold market. Investors should watch how expanded drilling platforms and strategic exploration budgets fuel resource growth. The sustained high-grade drill results underline gold’s ongoing appeal amidst fluctuating commodity markets.
