Ulbrich Stainless Steels Enhances Precision Rolling Capabilities with ATI Acquisition

Ulbrich acquires ATI assets

Introduction to Ulbrich’s Expansion Strategy

Ulbrich Stainless Steels & Special Metals, located in North Haven, Connecticut, has made a key move to boost its position in the high-performance alloys market. The company acquired ATI’s precision-rolled strip operations in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and Remscheid, Germany. These facilities will now operate as Ulbrich Precision Alloys and Ulbrich Europe Metals. This acquisition helps Ulbrich expand its production of light-gauge, wide-width nickel alloys, titanium, and specialty stainless steel products. These alloys are crucial for industries that require precise materials, including aerospace, medical, and defense sectors.

Boosting Capabilities in High-Tech Applications

With the new acquisition, Ulbrich enhances its production capacity for specialty alloys. The New Bedford facility processes nickel alloys and titanium, which are essential in aerospace, medical, and defense sectors. The Remscheid facility, known for precision rolling, will meet the growing demand for high-tech materials. Together, these facilities allow Ulbrich to serve industries that need strict material specifications, such as electronics and medical devices. Ulbrich can now offer a broader range of high-quality specialty alloys.

ATI’s Strategic Shift and Ulbrich’s Growth

ATI, a global materials supplier, decided to divest its precision-rolled strip operations. This aligns with ATI’s strategy to refocus on key growth areas, including aerospace, energy, and specialty metals. By selling these operations to Ulbrich, ATI can shift its focus to other business segments. Meanwhile, Ulbrich benefits from increased manufacturing capacity and advanced technological expertise provided by the newly acquired facilities.

Expansion of Ulbrich’s Global Reach

Ulbrich’s acquisition of ATI’s facilities expands its global presence. The move strengthens Ulbrich’s manufacturing footprint in both North America and Europe. It also solidifies the company’s role as a leading player in the specialty alloys market. With the integration of these operations, Ulbrich will offer a wider range of specialty alloys to meet growing demand in sectors like aerospace, medical, and defense. As the need for high-performance materials increases, Ulbrich’s expanded capacity ensures it can provide materials that meet the highest standards of precision, strength, and reliability.
