Ulbrich Stainless Steels Enhances Precision Rolling Capabilities with ATI Acquisition

Ulbrich acquires ATI assets

Strategic Expansion in Specialty Alloys Production
Ulbrich Stainless Steels & Special Metals, based in North Haven, Connecticut, has strengthened its position in the high-performance alloys market with the acquisition of ATI’s precision-rolled strip operations in New Bedford, Massachusetts, and Remscheid, Germany. These facilities will now operate under the names Ulbrich Precision Alloys and Ulbrich Europe Metals, respectively. The acquisition is part of Ulbrich’s ongoing strategy to expand its production capabilities, particularly in light-gauge, wide-width nickel alloys, titanium, and specialty stainless steel products, which are used in industries requiring advanced materials with precise mechanical properties.

Boosting Capabilities in High-Tech Applications
This acquisition allows Ulbrich to further enhance its production capacity for specialty alloys critical in high-performance applications. The New Bedford facility focuses on processing nickel alloys and titanium, which are integral to aerospace, medical, and defense industries. The Remscheid facility, with its existing expertise in precision rolling, will support Ulbrich’s ability to meet growing demand for high-tech materials. Both locations will add value to Ulbrich’s ability to serve sectors where stringent material specifications are required, such as in electronics and medical devices.

ATI’s Strategic Shift
ATI, a global supplier of materials for various high-tech sectors, decided to divest its precision-rolled strip operations as part of a broader strategy to refocus its resources on core growth areas. ATI’s sale of these operations allows the company to concentrate on other segments within aerospace, energy, and specialty metals, while Ulbrich benefits from the increased capacity and technological expertise these facilities provide.

Expansion of Ulbrich’s Global Reach
This acquisition is pivotal in increasing Ulbrich’s global reach and reinforcing its manufacturing presence in both North America and Europe. With the integration of these operations, Ulbrich will be able to offer a more diverse range of specialty alloys and expand its service offerings to meet the growing demand for advanced materials in aerospace, medical, and defense industries. These high-performance materials are critical for applications where precision, strength, and reliability are paramount, and Ulbrich’s ability to meet these needs will be greatly enhanced by the additional manufacturing capacity in both regions.
