1. Introduce
– Relatively soft and ductile in pure state, but becomes stronger and brittle when impurities are added
– Element itself is highly reactive and exists only as a compound in nature
– Due to the oxide passivation protective film, it is not easily corroded at room temperature and is stable in strong acidic atmospheres such as alkali, sulfuric acid, hydrochloric acid, etc.
– Adding small amounts of V to steel improves the steel’s strength and high temperature properties
