Vestas has strengthened its European manufacturing footprint through a significant deal with LM Wind Power. The agreement will see LM Wind Power’s blade factory in Goleniów, Poland, join Vestas’ growing network of production facilities. The acquisition will support the production of blades for Vestas’ onshore wind solutions, including the V172-7.2 MW turbine. This move plays a crucial role in meeting the growing energy needs in Poland and across Europe.

Vestas Strengthens Its Position in the European Wind Energy Market

The Goleniów facility, established in 2009 and expanded in 2017, will continue to deliver high-quality blades for Vestas’ wind turbines. The factory’s strategic location in Poland allows Vestas to better serve the increasing demand for renewable energy solutions across Europe.

Vestas’ Chief Technology and Operations Officer, Anders Nielsen, emphasized that this acquisition aligns with Europe’s urgent need for secure, affordable, and sustainable energy. Expanding its European manufacturing footprint will enable Vestas to support wind energy’s critical role in Europe’s evolving energy system. He also expressed gratitude to LM Wind Power for their long-standing collaboration.

LM Wind Power and GE Vernova: A Strategic Shift in Operations

LM Wind Power, a subsidiary of GE Vernova, views this transaction as a strategic move to simplify operations and focus on core manufacturing facilities in the European Union. CEO Hanif Mashal explained that the sale would allow LM Wind Power to reinvest in its primary manufacturing locations producing GE Vernova wind products. The transition will help meet the growing demand for renewable energy solutions in the EU market.

Mashal also assured that LM Wind Power would continue working closely with Vestas to ensure a smooth transfer. Furthermore, both companies will collaborate closely to help the factory seamlessly transition into Vestas’ operations, ensuring minimal disruption to production.

Strengthening Wind Energy Production in Europe

This transaction underscores the increasing importance of wind energy in Europe’s energy landscape. By expanding its manufacturing capacity in Europe, Vestas ensures that it is well-equipped to meet the region’s growing energy demands. The Goleniów factory will continue to play a pivotal role in supporting Vestas’ onshore wind energy solutions, making a valuable contribution to Europe’s renewable energy future.
