The Alberta Beverage Container Recycling Corporation (ABCRC) has partnered with Diversys Software Inc. to modernize the province’s beverage container recovery program. This collaboration aims to improve recycling efficiency and enhance transparency across the entire process.

Digitizing Alberta’s Beverage Container Recovery

ABCRC has joined forces with Diversys Software Inc., a Toronto-based technology company, to introduce its software into Alberta’s beverage container recycling program. This partnership is part of ABCRC’s ongoing effort to improve recycling operations from start to finish.

By implementing Diversys’ software, ABCRC aims to optimize its processes and improve accountability. Diversys’ platform will provide modern tools for better tracking and data management. This will help ABCRC and its partners—such as depots, haulers, and recyclers—streamline operations and increase recycling rates. The new system promises a more efficient and effective recovery process.

Improving Transparency and Accountability

ABCRC has already recovered over 85% of the 2.6 billion beverage containers sold annually in Alberta. With the new software, ABCRC seeks to boost these impressive recovery rates. Guy West, president and CEO of ABCRC, believes the software will further improve operations. “With Diversys, we’re confident that their software will allow us to track containers accurately, process them efficiently, and recycle them effectively,” said West.

The Diversys platform increases transparency and accountability. It provides real-time tracking and detailed reports. This helps reduce inefficiencies and prevent revenue leakage. It also ensures that all stakeholders—processors and recyclers alike—can manage their roles more effectively.

A Step Toward a Sustainable Future

Roger Barlow, CEO of Diversys Software Inc., is eager to support ABCRC in its mission to improve recycling rates and promote sustainability. “Our platform is built for complex recycling operations. We’re excited to help ABCRC operate efficiently, reduce waste, and contribute to a sustainable future,” said Barlow.

This partnership is a key step in modernizing Alberta’s beverage container recycling infrastructure. With this digital transformation, ABCRC and Diversys are working to maintain high recovery rates and reduce environmental impact. Together, they will support Alberta’s sustainability goals and contribute to the circular economy.
