Namibia-based Andrada Mining has made notable advancements in its tantalum and lithium production efforts. On September 26, the company announced an increase in tantalum output, successfully shipping 15 tons of concentrate with a grade of 10.8% tantalum pentoxide (Ta2O5) to AfriMet, a significant rise from the 9 tons produced in the previous quarter. This shipment is part of a one-year offtake agreement set to expire on January 1, 2025.
In addition to its tantalum operations, Andrada is enhancing its lithium production by generating high-purity petalite concentrate for further testing. This concentrate will be evaluated for its potential conversion into lithium carbonate and lithium hydroxide. Recently, the company completed a one-time sale of 5 tons of petalite concentrate to a ceramic producer.
Strategically, Andrada has formed a partnership with Chilean lithium giant SQM to develop the Lithium Ridge asset in Namibia. Under this partnership, SQM will fund exploration and feasibility studies, while Andrada retains operational control. The company also reported stable tin production, with 239 tons produced in the three months ending in August.
