Martin GmbH, a Huppenkothen subsidiary, produces a large volume of excavator attachments. These include quick-change systems and hydraulic couplings. To maintain efficiency, Martin has focused on optimizing its manufacturing process.
Automation Improves Worker Comfort and Productivity
Previously, workers at Martin’s Ludesch, Austria facility manually removed slag and ground surfaces. This was a labor-intensive and physically demanding task. The components, weighing over 50 kg, required long hours of repetitive work. Frequent sick leave disrupted operations.
To address these challenges, Martin adopted Teqram’s automated EasyGrinder system. This robot-based system automates the deburring and shotblasting process. This improves both productivity and worker comfort.
EasyGrinder System Streamlines Production
The EasyGrinder system efficiently removes slag, grinds edges, and creates a 2-mm radius on parts. A Rösler rotary table system then automatically performs shotblasting. The Teqram robot uses 3D vision sensors to identify workpiece contours. It selects appropriate grippers based on material and geometry. It can also flip parts for processing on both sides.
This automation allows Martin to process small to medium batch sizes with minimal manual intervention. This has significantly improved production efficiency. It has also created a more attractive work environment. Workers are relieved from physical strain.
