CNOOC Limited has announced the commencement of production at the Dongfang 29-1 Gas Field Development Project, located in the Yinggehai Basin, Hainan Island. This development marks a significant milestone for CNOOC as the company continues to enhance its offshore natural gas production capabilities.

Key Features of the Dongfang 29-1 Gas Field Project

The Dongfang 29-1 project, located at an average water depth of approximately 68 meters, features a new unmanned wellhead platform and a submarine pipeline to transport the gas. Six development wells are expected to be commissioned, with the project projected to reach a peak production of 38 million cubic feet of natural gas per day by 2025. The production facilities have been designed for space efficiency, significantly reducing project investment while ensuring reliable gas supply.

The gas produced will be processed via existing facilities at the Dongfang gas fields, which CNOOC has continuously expanded to optimize its offshore production. This development is part of CNOOC’s broader strategy to tap into the full potential of the Yinggehai-Qiongdongnan Basin and improve the overall production capacity of its offshore fields.
