CNOOC Commences Production at Dongfang 29-1 Gas Field

CNOOC, Dongfang 29-1 Gas Field
CNOOC Limited has officially commenced production at the Dongfang 29-1 Gas Field Development Project, located in the Yinggehai Basin near Hainan Island. This marks a crucial step in CNOOC’s strategy to expand its offshore natural gas production and strengthen energy supply for China’s growing demand.

CNOOC has positioned the project at an average water depth of 68 meters and installed a new unmanned wellhead platform. The facility connects to a submarine pipeline, ensuring an efficient gas transportation system.

 

Key Features of the Dongfang 29-1 Gas Field

The project features six development wells, and CNOOC will gradually bring them online. By 2025, the gas field will achieve a peak production of 38 million cubic feet per day.

To enhance efficiency, CNOOC has integrated the production facilities with existing Dongfang gas fields. This strategy optimizes offshore production, reduces costs, and ensures a stable supply of clean energy.

 

Strategic Impact and Future Outlook

With 100% ownership and operation rights, CNOOC strengthens its presence in offshore natural gas production. The project enhances Hainan Island’s energy security, contributing to clean, reliable, and cost-efficient gas supply.

CNOOC continues to focus on maximizing the potential of the Yinggehai-Qiongdongnan Basin. The company aims to expand offshore capacity and support China’s clean energy transition through optimized natural gas production.
