1.Introduce
– Ni alloy with large amounts of Mo added
– Minimized Fe and Cr content to reduce machining brittleness
– Alloy with excellent resistance to hydrogen chloride gas and sulfuric, acetic, and phosphoric acid environments
– UNS N10665
* UNS
- Abbreviation of Unified Numbering Systems for Metals and Alloys
- Unified numbering system for metals and alloys
- A representative number that is compatible with metals and alloys defined in many material – related codes such as ASTM, AISI, ASME, AWS, etc.
* N : Nickel and nickel alloys
* UNS N10665 : 10XXX : Molybdenum (Hastelloy)
* Hastelloy
– Corrosion – resistant alloy with Ni as the main component
– Good machinability, weldability
* Hastelloy B
(1) Main composition
– Ni – Mo
(2) Characteristics
– Hydrochloric acid resistant alloy : Excellent hydrochloric acid resistance due to the addition of a large amount of Mo
– Good corrosion resistance, resistance to hydrogen chloride gas and reducing solutions
2. Property
– Excellent resistance to reducing environments (hydrogen chloride, sulfuric acid, acetic acid, phosphoric acid), stress corrosion cracking, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance
– Poor corrosion resistance in oxidizing environments → Not suitable for use in environments with oxidizing, iron or copper salts
– Not suitable for use at secondary phase formation temperature (approx. 578 ~ 871℃) → Reduced ductility when forming secondary phase (Ni₃Mo, Ni₄Mo)
| Element | Impact |
|---|---|
| Ni | Provide corrosion resistance |
| Mo | Provides sulfuric acid and hydrochloric acid corrosion resistance |
| Co | Provides strength, corrosion resistance, and high temperature performance |
