Incoloy 825(Ni – Cr – Mo)

1. Introduce

– Ni – Cr alloy with a small amount of Mo added

    – Similar to Incoloy 800 with improved corrosion resistance and high temperature strength

    – Used in a temperature range of approximately 871 to 1176°C

    – UNS N08825

    * UNS

    1. Abbreviation for Unified Numbering Systems for Metals and Alloys
    2. Unified numbering system for metals and alloys
    3. A representative number that is compatible with metals and alloys defined in many material – related codes such as ASTM, AISI, ASME, AWS, etc.

    * N : Nickel and Nickel Alloys

    * 825 : N08825 : 08XXX : Fe – Cr (Incoloy, Haynes)
    (The last two or three digits of the six UNS numbers are used as the alloy model number)

    * Incoloy

    1. Ni – Cr alloy designed to resist oxidation and carbonization at high temperatures
    2. A Ni – based superalloy (Ni – Cr) typically with large additions of Fe and Cr
    3. Alloy containing less than 50% Ni, with a higher content of Fe compared to Inconel (Ni – Cr – (Mo))

    2. Property

    – Excellent stress corrosion cracking resistance, crevice corrosion resistance, and oxidation resistance

    (Excellent pitting and crevice corrosion resistance in the temperature range of 650 ~ 760℃)

    – 1200 to 1400°C Severe intergranular corrosion may occur with prolonged exposure

      ElementImpact
      NiProvides Toughness, High temperature oxidation resistance, and heat resistance
      CrProvides resistance to high-temperature oxidation
