SLB Awarded Major Contracts for Deepwater Operations Across Multiple Regions

SLB, a leading global energy technology company, has been awarded a series of significant drilling contracts by Shell to support energy development in deep- and ultra-deepwater assets. The contracts cover Shell’s operations in the UK North Sea, Trinidad and Tobago, the Gulf of Mexico, and other regions, marking a continuation of their long-term collaboration. The three-year projects will combine SLB’s advanced digital capabilities with its expertise in ultra-deepwater environments, aiming to deliver capital-efficient solutions.

AI-Enabled Digital Drilling to Enhance Efficiency and Reduce Costs

A key aspect of SLB’s approach is its use of AI-enabled digital drilling technology, which is designed to improve the consistency and predictability of well delivery. By leveraging these advanced technologies, SLB intends to enhance operational efficiency and significantly reduce costs across the lifecycle of the projects. The company’s expertise in deepwater drilling environments will be critical in achieving Shell’s objectives for safe, efficient, and cost-effective energy production.

Comprehensive Services Under the Contracts

The contracts include a wide range of drilling and completion services, including digital directional drilling, logging while drilling (LWD), surface logging, cementing, and completions fluids. SLB will also provide wireline services to Shell as part of the project scope. SLB has already begun providing these services to Shell, and each project will be centrally managed through the company’s Performance Live centers. These centers will ensure that operations are optimized for safety and efficiency, aligning with Shell’s expectations for high-quality energy development.

SLB’s Role in Shell’s Long-Term Deepwater Strategy

SLB’s commitment to supporting Shell’s deepwater strategy underscores the long-standing and successful relationship between the two companies. By utilizing SLB’s cutting-edge technology and global expertise, Shell aims to optimize its deepwater operations while adhering to rigorous safety standards. This collaboration highlights SLB’s leadership in providing solutions for complex energy development projects in challenging offshore environments.
