STS Metals Acquires Brown Europe to Strengthen Aerospace Offering

Aerospace fastener

STS Metals, based in Irwindale, California, has expanded its global footprint by acquiring Brown Europe, a leading European manufacturer of wires and bars in alloy steels, stainless steels, and superalloys. The acquisition marks a significant step in STS Metals’ strategy to strengthen its position in the aerospace sector, particularly in the fastener manufacturing market.

Brown Europe’s Specialized Expertise in Aerospace Materials
Brown Europe operates two facilities in France—Brive-la-Gaillarde and Laval-de-Cere—and has built a strong reputation over its 39 years of operation. The company specializes in wire drawing and processing for the aerospace industry, focusing on high-performance materials used in fasteners. Its deep expertise in alloy steels and superalloys positions it as a key partner for major aerospace fastener manufacturers.

The acquisition allows STS Metals to enhance its product offerings and extend its customer service capabilities not only in Europe but also in global markets. David Beddome, CEO of STS Metals, highlighted the alignment between the two companies’ business models, noting that Brown Europe shares STS Metals’ commitment to superior service and operational excellence.

Expanding Aerospace Capabilities Through Strategic Acquisitions
STS Metals, known for its production of titanium, stainless steel, nickel-based alloys, and other specialty materials, has a strong focus on the aerospace and defense industries. The company is well-established in providing products like bar, plate, sheet, and wire, which are essential for reducing weight and costs in the aerospace supply chain. This acquisition adds significant value to STS Metals’ portfolio, particularly in wire and bar products for aerospace fasteners.

With a growing portfolio that already includes Sierra Alloys, TSI Titanium, Sierra Sheet and Plate, and Brown Pacific, STS Metals plans to continue expanding through acquisitions of complementary businesses. The acquisition of Brown Europe is a strategic move to broaden the company’s product offerings and strengthen relationships with key aerospace customers.
