Torex Gold Resources Inc. (TSX: TXG) has marked a significant achievement by producing its first copper concentrate from the Media Luna Project. This Torex Gold production milestone follows the successful completion of a four-week tie-in period, which is a key step in the company’s growth.
Key Milestone in the Media Luna Project
Jody Kuzenko, President and CEO of Torex Gold, shared her pride in this success, which comes almost three years after the release of the Media Luna feasibility study. The tie-in period proceeded smoothly, with 83 tie-ins completed and 136 systems commissioned at the processing plant. This milestone represents the substantial completion of the project and the beginning of Torex Gold’s transition to a dual producer of gold and copper.
“We expect to begin trucking copper concentrate shortly, with contracts already in place for sales and logistics,” Kuzenko stated. “Commercial production will begin in the coming weeks.”
Steady Progress and Future Outlook
Mining operations at Media Luna are ramping up. Ore is now being transported through the Guajes Tunnel conveyor, and development rates are surpassing the budgeted 1,200 meters per month. Torex has drilled 88 stopes, with plans to mine 46 in 2025, 35 in 2026, and 7 in 2027. The commissioning of the paste plant in the second quarter will increase throughput levels even further.
Torex Gold is confident it will reach steady-state mining rates of 7,500 tonnes per day by mid-2026, six months ahead of schedule. The company remains focused on boosting production and sustaining growth.
A Bright Future for Shareholders
Torex Gold is committed to generating strong free cash flow and enhancing shareholder value. The company plans to reinvest in exploration, develop the EPO mine, and return capital through dividends and share buybacks. Torex is also strengthening its balance sheet to support future growth opportunities.
The continued success of the Media Luna Project marks a vital milestone for Torex Gold, positioning the company for long-term growth in both gold and copper production.
