Ukrainian Railways restarted scrap metal trading in May 2024 after a pause since September 2023. Before the suspension, the railway operator sold 76,400 tons of scrap metal in the first nine months of 2023, compared to 113,000 tons in 2022. Despite the dip, scrap metal collection in Ukraine surged by 37% year-on-year in 2024, reaching over 1.7 million tons. Deliveries to steel enterprises also grew 30% year-on-year to 1.34 million tons.
