Ore Processing Underway at Zgounder as Ramp-Up Begins
Aya Gold & Silver has officially commenced ore processing at its Zgounder Silver Mine in Morocco, with the plant now mechanically complete and progressing through hot commissioning. The company introduced the first ore into the mill on November 4, and by November 7, over 4,000 tonnes had been milled at a rate of 95 tonnes per hour. A silver pour is expected in November, marking a key milestone in the transition from commissioning to ramp-up.
Progressive Ramp-Up to Commercial Production by Late Q4 2024
The ramp-up phase is progressing as planned, with commercial production targeted for late Q4 2024. Aya Gold & Silver aims to reach steady-state nameplate capacity by Q1 2025. The company is currently processing low-grade ore, and production is expected to increase steadily as systems are optimized.
ISO 9001 Certification Reflects Operational Excellence
In addition to the successful start of ore processing, Zgounder has recently achieved ISO 9001 certification, demonstrating the company’s commitment to operational excellence and quality management. Aya’s CEO, Benoit La Salle, emphasized that the transition to full-scale production is on track, supported by strong silver market fundamentals and the company’s dedicated team.
