Aya Gold & Silver Begins Ore Processing at Zgounder Silver Mine, Nears Commercial Production

Zgounder Silver Mine

Aya Gold & Silver has officially begun ore processing at its Zgounder Silver Mine in Morocco. The plant has completed mechanical work and is now advancing through the hot commissioning phase. On November 4, the company introduced its first ore into the mill. By November 7, over 4,000 tonnes were milled at a rate of 95 tonnes per hour. The company expects a silver pour in November, marking a significant milestone in the transition from commissioning to ramp-up at the Zgounder Silver Mine.

Ramp-Up to Commercial Production

Aya Gold & Silver is making steady progress with its ramp-up phase at the Zgounder Silver Mine. The company has set a target for commercial production by late Q4 2024. Aya aims to reach steady-state nameplate capacity at Zgounder by Q1 2025. For now, the company is processing low-grade ore from Zgounder. As the systems are optimized, production is expected to rise steadily.

Achieving ISO 9001 Certification

In addition to starting ore processing, Zgounder recently received ISO 9001 certification. This certification reflects Aya’s commitment to operational excellence and quality management. Aya’s CEO, Benoit La Salle, emphasized that the transition to full-scale production remains on schedule. Strong silver market fundamentals and a dedicated team are key to this achievement.

Conclusion

Aya Gold & Silver’s Zgounder Silver Mine is progressing towards commercial production, with plans to reach steady production levels in early 2025. The company is confident that its strategic efforts, backed by operational improvements and strong silver demand, will lead to long-term success.
