Canada-based Globex Mining Enterprises has confirmed a significant rare earth discovery in south-eastern Nevada. The company identified strong rare earth mineralisation at its newly acquired Gem Hills property. Globex operates the project through its wholly owned subsidiary, Globex Nevada. The company staked a continuous block of unpatented lode mining claims in Lincoln County. The site lies about 170km north-east of Las Vegas.

The Gem Hills project returned rare earth oxide values between 0.28% and 5.26% total rare earth oxides. The average grade reached approximately 1.7% TREO. These results position the Globex rare earth discovery in Nevada among notable early-stage US prospects.

Moreover, samples revealed up to 18.97% heavy rare earth oxides. The assays also showed a maximum of 35% combined neodymium and praseodymium oxides. These magnet metals remain essential for electric vehicles and wind turbines.

A total of 34 rock samples were collected in 2025. This work added to 13 samples gathered in 2024. The programme identified enrichment of dysprosium and terbium, especially in historic mine dump material.

 

Geological Setting Supports New REE Deposit Model

The Gem Hills property sits within the Caliente Caldera Complex in the Great Basin province. Devonian limestone and dolomite host the mineralisation. Mid-Tertiary felsic volcanic rocks flank these carbonate units.

Rare earth mineralisation occurs along faulted contact zones between carbonate and volcanic formations. These structural controls suggest a hydrothermal-metasomatic REE deposit type. Consequently, the geological setting may represent a new exploration model for US rare earth projects.

X-ray diffraction testing confirmed key mineral phases. These include dolomite, calcite, gibbsite, fluorite and monazite. Importantly, the company detected no uranium or thorium radiation anomalies. This absence could support cleaner extraction pathways compared to conventional rare earth sources.

Globex plans further exploration at Gem Hills. The company may also evaluate potential option agreements. Meanwhile, Globex continues to expand its broader portfolio in Quebec and Nevada.
