Mill Steel Co., one of the largest distributors of flat-rolled carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum in the U.S., has acquired Maryland Metals Processing (MMP) in Baltimore. This acquisition strengthens Mill Steel’s footprint and processing capabilities, particularly in stainless and aluminum toll processing.
Strategic Move to Enhance Shipping and Processing Capabilities
Maryland Metals Processing, a well-regarded toll processor specializing in cut-to-length, polishing, slitting, and coil enhancement services, will continue to operate independently under its current name and business model. Mill Steel’s acquisition aims to increase the company’s national capacity while maintaining the high-quality service MMP’s customers are accustomed to.
Pam Heglund, CEO of Mill Steel, stated, “We are excited to bring Maryland Metals Processing into the Mill Steel family. The facility’s location and capabilities will further enhance our processing and shipping capabilities across the country, ensuring we continue to provide exceptional service to our clients.”
Maintaining Legacy While Expanding Resources
Ken McAvoy, CEO of Maryland Metals Processing, echoed Heglund’s sentiments, emphasizing the opportunity for growth. “Joining Mill Steel allows us to continue delivering the same high standards of service while benefiting from Mill Steel’s expanded resources and national reach.”
MMP’s team will remain intact, ensuring continuity for its customers while providing them access to Mill Steel’s broader network and resources. This partnership is expected to bolster MMP’s ability to meet the growing needs of its customer base.
