The buyer, Belgium’s Campine NV, has made a binding offer to acquire Ecobat’s facilities in Estrée-Saint-Denis, Bazoches, and Pont-Sainte-Maxence. This sale marks Ecobat’s exit from the French lead recycling sector, except for its lithium-ion battery collection business.

Ecobat’s President and CEO, Tom Slabe, described the move as a key milestone in sharpening the company’s focus on its core mission. “This transaction represents an important step in our strategy for sustainable battery recycling,” he said. Slabe also expressed confidence in Campine’s expertise to grow and stabilize the French operations, benefiting stakeholders including employees and customers.

The transaction is subject to legal consultations with employee representatives and regulatory approvals. Rothschild & Co served as financial advisor, while White & Case provided legal counsel for Ecobat.
