Fortius Metals Secures Additional $2 Million in Seed Funding

Fortius Metal

Fortius Metals, a leader in metal 3D printing, has successfully raised an additional $2 million in seed funding, increasing its total to $5 million. This funding round sees Finindus joining existing investors, including 412 Venture Fund, AM Ventures, and M7 Holdings.

Strong Backing from Investors
With AM Ventures having initially supported Fortius Metals in December 2022, the firm continues to attract significant interest from the investment community. This latest capital infusion is expected to bolster Fortius’s efforts in developing advanced additive manufacturing technologies.

Innovation in Large-Format Additive Manufacturing
Fortius Metals specializes in large-format additive manufacturing, utilizing patented technology that facilitates welding and wire additive processes with high-performance metals. Their clientele includes notable organizations such as the US Army, Navy, Air Force, NASA, and various commercial space enterprises.

Development of Proprietary Alloys
The company claims its proprietary alloys can provide up to double the strength compared to existing commercial solutions in welding and 3D printing. Additionally, Fortius is enhancing its robotic welding processes with predictive toolpaths that ensure dimensional accuracy and precision, crucial for meeting industry standards.

Accelerating Product Development
The newly acquired funds will accelerate product development timelines, responding to customer demand for cutting-edge technology. CEO Jeff Lints highlighted the broad interest from clients and the potential for new market offerings, including innovative aluminum welding wires designed to eliminate traditional “hot cracking” issues.

Future Launches and Strategic Vision
Looking ahead to 2025, Fortius plans to introduce new wire alloys with advanced properties, such as IN625-RAM, 316L-RAM, and 5183-RAM. Lints emphasized the company’s commitment to innovation, stating their expertise allows clients to achieve designs that were previously considered impossible.

Commitment to Sustainable Industrial Technologies
Roel Callebaut, Senior Investment Manager at Finindus, expressed enthusiasm for the partnership, highlighting Fortius Metals’ role in advancing wire-based additive manufacturing. This collaboration aligns with Finindus’s mission to promote innovative and sustainable technologies in the industrial sector.
