Pure Lithium Acquires Dimien to Boost LVO Battery Development
Pure Lithium has acquired the assets of Dimien, a vanadium cathode producer, as part of a strategic initiative to advance its lithium metalvanadium oxide (LVO) battery technology. This move is designed to expedite the commercialization of a battery that promises to be safer, more cost-effective, and more efficient than conventional electric vehicle (EV) batteries.

Enhancing Battery Performance
The acquisition allows Pure Lithium to access Dimien’s intellectual property, manufacturing equipment, and key personnel. Dimien is recognized for its zeta vanadium oxide (ZVO) cathode material, which Pure Lithium plans to combine with its lithium metal anode developed in partnership with E3 Lithium in Canada. This new battery design is expected to achieve higher energy density and reduced fire risks compared to traditional nickel-manganese-cobalt (NMC) and nickel-manganese-aluminum (NMA) batteries.

Optimizing Production and Future Prospects
Focused on improving efficiency, Pure Lithium aims to produce lithium metal-vanadium batteries in just 48 hours. The company is also exploring plans to build a commercial battery facility in Alberta, Canada, strategically positioned near E3 Lithium’s brine deposits. The financial details of the acquisition and the timeline for its completion have not yet been made public.
