RTX Settles $200 Million with U.S. State Department
Aerospace
giant RTX has agreed to a $200 million settlement with the U.S. State Department to resolve civil allegations involving the illegal export of “defense articles” to restricted countries, including China, Russia, and Iran. The settlement covers 750 claims linked to “historical jurisdiction and classification errors” within compliance programs inherited from entities acquired or merged with RTX.

Compliance Issues Identified During Acquisition Integration
During a July earnings call, company executives revealed that these compliance issues were identified during the integration of Rockwell Collins and Raytheon Company into RTX. As part of the agreement, half of the penalty will be directed towards strengthening RTX’s compliance program, and an independent monitor will supervise the company’s operations over the next three years.

Ongoing Legal Challenges for RTX
This settlement is one of several legal challenges RTX is addressing, with the company expecting to pay more than $1 billion to settle three major legal disputes.
