Tata Motors, Vehicle Dismantling Facility

State-of-the-Art Vehicle Scrapping Facility in Pune

Tata Motors, in collaboration with Tata International, has unveiled a new Registered Vehicle Scrapping Facility (RVSF) in Pune, India. The Re.Wi.Re (Recycle with Respect) facility is designed to transform India’s vehicle recycling industry. It can dismantle up to 21,000 vehicles annually, including both passenger and commercial vehicles. The facility follows eco-friendly practices, ensuring safe disposal of hazardous materials and recycling of valuable components. Operated by Tata International Vehicle Applications (TIVA), a Tata Group subsidiary, this facility supports Tata Motors’ broader initiative to promote a circular economy in India.

Re.Wi.Re: A Digital and Paperless Approach to Vehicle Recycling

The Re.Wi.Re facility is fully digitalized and paperless, streamlining its processes and improving efficiency. Furthermore, it features specialized stations to dismantle components like tires, batteries, fuel, oils, and gases. All procedures follow India’s vehicle scrappage policy. In addition, Tata Motors ensures each vehicle undergoes detailed documentation and processing. As a result, the process guarantees safe disposal, resource recovery, and improved environmental protection.

Expansion of Tata’s Vehicle Recycling Network Across India

The Pune facility adds to Tata Motors’ expanding network of Re.Wi.Re centers. Other facilities are operational in Jaipur, Bhubaneshwar, Surat, Chandigarh, and Delhi. Tata Motors and Tata International are working together to meet the growing demand for efficient, organized vehicle recycling across India. Rajeev Batra, CEO of TIVA, stated that the new facility plays a crucial role in creating a sustainable vehicle recycling ecosystem, reducing waste, and promoting resource reuse.

Commitment to Sustainability and the Circular Economy

This new facility is integral to Tata Motors’ strategy of supporting India’s sustainability goals. It helps create a circular economy within the automotive industry. Girish Wagh, Executive Director of Tata Motors, highlighted the company’s commitment to using advanced recycling processes to maximize the value extracted from end-of-life vehicles (ELVs), while minimizing environmental impact. This initiative is in line with Tata’s broader mission to lead the automotive industry in sustainable practices and innovation.
